FEES & PAYMENT INFO

Fees for psychological services and counselling are on a session by session basis, based on the rates recommended by the Psychologist Association of Alberta.  These are currently $190/hour per session.  Session rates are subject to change and clients will be notified prior to any session bookings.

Payment is due on the same day and typically at the end of the session.  I currently accept payment by cash, cheque, credit card, and e-transfer.

Many insurance health plans provide coverage for psychological services and your insurance provider can provide you with details regarding your plan.  A receipt will be provided to you for reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Direct billing is available for Alberta Blue Cross members, SSQ Insurance, and Green Shield.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please provide 24 hours notice if you cannot attend your appointment for any reason, or need to change it.  Changes or cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will incur a $100 cancellation fee for a first occurrence, with any subsequent late cancellations charged at the regular hourly rate.

SESSION INFO

Sessions are 50 minutes long, usually on a 1 to 2 weekly basis however, this may vary depending on the treatment plan.  An assessment will be completed at the first session to develop a shared understanding of the problem(s) and identify your specific goals that you want help with.  From this we will develop a treatment plan, and you will be provided with an estimation of the number of sessions required.   Treatment typically lasts between 6-20 sessions however, it is important to remember that people get better in their own time and you may need less or more than this.

A key part of treatment is homework. This may include reading material or specific tasks, such as keeping a diary of your thoughts, or practicing a new skill. The homework tasks will give you the opportunity to test out and practice techniques you have learned, or to expose yourself gradually to feared situations. These are key to you making progress in treatment.
